LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Oregon State volleyball fell to the Arizona Wildcats on Saturday, dropping the match in four sets at the Galen Center.

AC Froehlich tied her season and career high with 18 kills, averaging 4.5 per set, as part of a double-double that also included 15 digs, two blocks and an ace. Cheyenne Green amassed a career-high 13 kills, and Alana Marrs hit .385 on her way to 11 kills and five blocks.

Taray Tela (six kills, two blocks) and Beatrice Spada (five kills, seven digs, two blocks) also contributed to an OSU attack that finished with two more kills than its opposition and hit a higher percentage.

Jackie Matias recorded her third double-double of the season with 34 assists and 18 digs, adding two blocks and a kill, while Isabel Bertelsen led the team in digs, totaling 25 in the match.

After a back-and-forth start, Oregon State took a four point lead midway through the opening set on an ace by Green, putting the team up 15-11 heading into the media timeout. Arizona came back from the break with a 4-0 run, holding off the Beavers to win 25-23.

In the second, OSU was once again leading at the media timeout, using a 4-0 run that included back-to-back Froehlich kills to lead 15-11. The Wildcats once again fought right back, taking a 17-16 lead before the Beavers leveled at 18, 19 and 20, but fell, 25-23, in the set.

Oregon State dominated the third, winning 25-16. Runs of 5-0, 6-0 and 4-0 helped as Marrs (five kills) and Green (four kills) took over. The lead twice reached double-digits, as a Froehlich kill made it 20-10 and Tela smashed one home to push the lead to 21-11; OSU then managed the rest of the way to win that set.

The fourth set was close from the start, Arizona managing a small lead until a 4-0 run made it 14-12 in favor of the Beavers. UA took the lead back on a kill to make it 20-19, but OSU rattled off another 4-0 run to take a 24-22 advantage after a Froehlich kill.

Arizona responded to score five points in the next six rallies, winning the set 27-25 and taking the win in four sets.

Oregon State volleyball will play one more this weekend in The Golden State, facing host No. 16 Southern California on Sunday.
