Oregon State Continues Non-Conference Play Versus Montana
- Oregon State stays home for another non-conference matchup when the Beavers play host to Montana Saturday night at Reser Stadium.
- Saturday's game kicks off at 8 p.m. PT. It will air live on USA Sports. Ted Robinson will serve as play-by-play announcer with Darius Walker as the analyst. Dalen Cuff will report from the sideline.
- It's the first 8 p.m. start for the Beavers since winning a 28-27 matchup at Stanford on Oct. 8, 2022.
- The game can also be heard live on the Beaver Sports Network. Download the Varsity Network app to listen to the game on your smartphone or tablet. Mike Parker and Jim Wilson are on the call with Ron Callan on the sideline.
- Oregon State and Montana are meeting for the first time since 1996. The Beavers hold a 12-2-2 series advantage with a 9-2-1 record in Corvallis. Montana, however, has won the last two meetings, winning in 1990 and 1996.
- The Beavers are making their first of six appearances on USA Sports on USA Network, the most in the Pac-12 this season.
- Braden Atkinson and Jesse Legree both lead the nation statistically. Atkinson has 789 passing yards while Legree is No. 1 in receiving yards with 376 over his first two games.
- Legree is the first Beaver wideout with 350 or more yards combined in back-to-back games since Brandin Cooks finished with 369 in 2013.
- Legree's 240 yards against Texas Tech also marked the first time an OSU wide receiver surpassed 200 yards at Reser Stadium since 2003. Receivers had done it six consecutive times away from home.
- Takari Hickle enters Saturday's matchup with at least half a tackle for loss in six consecutive games.
First on USA Sports
- Saturday's game marks Oregon State's first on USA Sports.
- The game broadcasts live on USA Network and is available to stream live via authentication on USA Network App, USANetwork.com & Connected TV Apps.
- The game, which is a part of a tripleheader, will have a pre-game and halftime show anchored by Lisa Kerney and Erik Coleman.
- In November, USA Sports and the Pac-12 Conference announced a five-year partnership beginning in 2026-27, featuring regular season action for football, men's basketball and women's basketball, plus the league's men's basketball tournament live on USA Network. Pac-12 Enterprises, the broadcast production arm of the conference, will produce all 80-plus football, men's basketball and women's basketball games on USA Network in partnership with USA Sports.
JaMarcus Shephard's First Season
- JaMarcus Shephard was named Oregon State's head coach this past November.
- He came to Corvallis after spending two seasons at Alabama, most recently as the Crimson Tide's assistant head coach, co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach.
- He arrived at Oregon State with a reputation as one of the nation's premier developers of wide receivers, having coached a consensus All-American, a first-team All-American, multiple NFL draft picks and a string of nationally ranked passing offenses across stops at Alabama, Washington, Purdue, Washington State and Western Kentucky.
- Shephard coached in the 2023 national title game while with the Huskies. Washington's passing game ranked second nationally at 343.7 yards per game while the Huskies scored 36.0 points per game. The unit featured one of the nation's top wide receiver corps with a pair of 1,000-yard seasons from first team All-American Rome Odunze, who recorded 92 receptions for 1,640 yards and 13 touchdowns, and Ja'Lynn Polk, who caught 69 passes for 1,159 yards and nine scores.
- The duo went on to be selected in the first and second rounds, respectively, of the 2024 NFL Draft.
On This Date
- Oregon State has played on Sept. 19 11 times in its history. The Beavers are 4-6-1 on the date.
- The Beavers last played on Sept. 19 in 2015, defeating San Jose State, 35-21.
- Oregon State, despite being under .500 on the date, has outscored opponents, 254-230. That's due in large part to a 76-0 win over Willamette in 1931. That was the program record for points until Oregon State defeated Nicholls, 77-3, on Dec. 1, 2012.
Legree Continues On
- Jesse Legree's 240 receiving yards against Texas Tech Saturday marked the second-most in program history, trailing only Mike Hass' program-record 293 against Boise State in 2004.
- Legree caught a 75-yard pass in the first quarter, and in doing so, became the first Beaver to tally at least one 70-yard reception in back-to-back games since Chad Johnson in 2000.
- He's the first Beaver to combine for 350 yards or more over a two-game stretch since Brandin Cooks, who did it twice in 2013.
- Legree's 240 yards are the most by a Beaver at home, and he's also the first to surpass 200 yards at Reser (then Parker Stadium) since Mike Hass in 2003.
- Legree's 30 yards per catch, on average, against Texas Tech marked the second-best single-game tally by a Beaver over the past 30 years, among players with five or more receptions. Sammie Stroughter had seven catches for 223 yards - a 31.9 yd avg. - against Washington in 2006.
Atkinson Over Two
- Braden Atkinson leads the nation with 789 passing yards over his first two games.
- He's completed 60 of his 99 pass attempts over the two games, throwing for three scores.
- Atkinson, the eighth different opening day starter in as many years for the Beavers, threw for 413 yards against Texas Tech. The 413 yards marked his fourth career 400-yard effort.
- Atkinson is the first Beaver to throw for 300 yards in back-to-back games since Jake Luton in 2018 against Colorado and USC.
- Meanwhile, Atkinson's 789 yards are the most over a two-game stretch by a Beaver since Sean Mannion threw for 974 yards in 2013 against Washington State (493) and California (481).
Hickle Goes Six Straight
- Takari Hickle recorded one tackle for loss against Texas Tech and has now gone six straight games with at least half a TFL.
- Hickle has 28 tackles with 5.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble over that stretch.
- He's gotten off to a strong start already in 2026, posting 12 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and a 9-yard sack over the first two games.
