Herron, Lundgren Lead Beavs in Chicago

CHICAGO – Oregon State placed 11th at the 47th Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational with both Ainsley Herron and Noemi Lundgren finishing in the top-25 runners.
The Beavs were in eighth at the 3K-split, with Herron leading the team in ninth place, followed closely by Lundgren in 15th. The leading duo dropped a bit over the final 3K, finishing in 21st and 25th respectively.

"We had a rough outing, which was a bit unexpected with this group as we have been doing good work and we have veteran presence. Our fitness is there. We will get back to Corvallis and forge ahead," head coach Louie Quitnana said. "We had great runs by Ainsley and Noemi. I'm happy for them. We will get better."

Ruby Broadbent was the third Beaver to cross the finish line, placing in 42nd place. Maella Hodgson and Maya Baechler rounded out the scoring runners in 68th and 83rd place, respectively.
Oregon State dropped to ninth at the 5K mark with 229 points before finishing in 11th with 233, just two points behind Lipscomb. The Beavers were one of the closer packs in the field with a 71-place difference between their first and last runners.

The race was the first in a split-squad weekend for the Beavs, with the remainder of the team competing at the Mike Johnson Classic in Monmouth, Ore. on Saturday, September 26. The race begins at 11 a.m.
