Matias Earns Second-Consecutive Setter of the Week Award

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Jackie Matias has been recognized as Pac-12 Setter of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

Matias became the first Oregon State player to record 60-plus assists in nearly 15 years during the Beavers' five set win over Washington State, finishing with 68, which is the highest single match total since Tayla Woods was credited with 61 against Long Beach State on Sept. 20, 2013.

She played a critical role late in Saturday's contest, tallying 16 assists in a 29-27 match-clinching fifth set, and had a solo block to put the Beavers up 28-27 before a Cougar attack error secured the team's first victory in the revamped Pac-12.

Through 12 matches played this season, Matias ranks second in the conference with 418 assists and an average of 10.20 per set.

Tuesday's announcement makes it three Setter of the Week awards for the Honolulu, Hawai'i, native, becoming the first Beaver student-athlete to win three Pac-12 weekly awards in the same season since Kylee McLaughlin and Mary-Kate Marhsall both accomplished the feat in 2017.
