Beavers Dominate in Season-Opening XC Race

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State easily took home the Linfield Harrier Classic title, placing all of the top seven runners and scoring the minimum point total possible for the team victory.
Sage Brooks won the individual title, narrowly finishing in front of teammates Ainsley Herron and Noemi Lundgren. The trio crossed the finish line together, followed closely by Maya Baechler and Ruby Broadbent in fourth and fifth to ensure the team title with the minimum of 15 points.

"We did a great job of packing up and keeping our foot on the gas," head coach Louie Quintana said. "It was sloppy and soft grass - so we did a great job managing that. This built great confidence from the group, and I am happy with this start."

Maella Hodgson and Cadence Kasprick rounded out the top-seven with Beavers. OSU also took places 9-12 for good measure and had the top-11 Division I runners in the field. The Beavs defeated Portland in the team standings by 60 spots.

Freshmen Kelsey Rodli (11th place) and Avery Meier (16th) recorded strong finishes in their Oregon State debuts.

With the team's rust-buster complete, Oregon State's next meet is slated to be the 47th Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational at Loyola University Chicago on September 25.
