John Schneider is in his eighth year as the rigger for the Oregon State women's rowing team.
Schneider, who joined the program during the summer of 2014, is responsible for the maintenance of all of the program’s equipment as well as the boathouse and he assists in the transport of the team’s boats to and from events.
With decades of experience in athletics as a physical education teacher, coach and athletic director in Colorado and Oregon, Schneider brings a wealth of knowledge to the program. In addition, Schneider owned a residential home maintenance business in Boulder, Colo., and worked as facilities director for Yosemite Institute (now Nature Bridge) in Yosemite National Park.
Originally from the Philadelphia area, Schneider earned a bachelor’s of arts degree in wilderness leadership from Prescott College in 1988 and a second BA in geography from the University of Colorado in 1997. His wife, Hannah, is a tenured professor of geography at Oregon State.
