Rower regains pull after battling cancer, Oregon Stater
OREGON STATE2014-15
Anna rowed in the Varsity 8 most of the season … raced in the 6-seat of the V8 in a loss at Gonzaga … moved up to the stroke seat setting the pace for first place finishes at the Pac-12 Challenge, beating Oklahoma, and at the Oregon State Classic, ahead of Louisville and Minnesota … raced as the stroke at the Clemson Invitational recording wins over Clemson (twice), Bucknell, Minnesota (twice), Tennessee, Oklahoma (twice), Duke, Michigan State and Penn … raced in the 5-seat of the V8 at Pac-12 Championships … rowed in the 7-seat of the Second Varsity 8 in a home regatta with Washington State and UCLA … earned Pac-12 All-Academic First Team honors.
2013-14
Anna was named to the CRCA West Regional team for the second straight year and concluded the year as a CRCA All-American … rowed in the 6-seat of the Varsity 8 all season … helped power the V8 to a 16th place finish at the Princeton Chase, the highest finish from a West Coast crew … V8 registered a first place finish against University of Victoria and Gonzaga … V8 recorded a win over University of San Diego at the Pac-12 Challenge and a pair of wins over Duke at the Oregon State Classic … helped the Beavers’ V8 to wins in two out of three races at the Clemson Invitational, beating Gonzaga, Clemson, Columbia, Oklahoma (twice), Tennessee (twice), Texas, Syracuse, Penn, Miami (twice), Harvard, Duke and Iowa … helped the V8 to a tie at Washington State … raced in the V8 at Pac-12 Championships … earned Pac-12 All-Academic First Team.
2012-13
Rowed in the 4-seat of the Varsity 8 in a second place finish at the Portland Fall Classic … raced in the 3-seat of the V8 in a win at Gonzaga … rowed in the stroke seat of the V8 at the Pac-12 Invitational including a win over Northeastern … raced in the stroke seat of the V8 at the Clemson Invitational registering wins over Miami, Penn, Tennessee, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Texas and Central Florida … rowed in the stroke seat of the Oregon State Classic helping her crew to wins over San Diego (twice) and Syracuse … rowed in the stroke seat of the V8 at the Pac-12 Championships Team … named to the 2012 CRCA West Regional team … earned 2013 Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention.
2011-12
After missing most of the 2011 season due to a battle with cancer, Anna returned to race in the Varsity 8 all season … rowed in the 4-seat of the V8 against University of Victoria … raced in the 6-seat of the V8 in a win over Gonzaga … raced in the stroke seat of the V8 at the San Diego Crew Classic, including a win in heat racing and a second place finish in the Grand Final of the SeaWorld Cal Cup … rowed in the stroke seat at the Michigan Invitational, at Washington State and at Pac-12 Championships … named Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year … earned 2012 Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team … named to the 2012 CRCA West Regional team.
2010-11
Anna raced in the Varsity 8 twice in 2011 … missed the rest of the season while battling cancer … rowed in the V8 in a win at Gonzaga … helped the V8 to a fifth place finish in the Petite Final at the San Diego Crew Classic … redshirt.
PERSONAL
Born in Auckland, New Zealand … daughter of Raewyn and Kevin Taylor … has four siblings: Erin, David, Peter and Claire … biggest athletic thrill to date was coming in second in the U-18 4+ North Island Championships … chose Oregon State because of “the team, the coaches, the campus. It felt like a right fit to come, a home away from home” … personal interests include being outdoors, sports, music, singing and dancing … pursuing exercise and sport science degree with on option in fitness and nutrition … hopes to work with childhood obesity.
