Beavers Back At Gill To Host Lions

THE GAME: Oregon State (3-3) plays its first of four straight games at Gill Coliseum when it hosts Loyola Marymount (4-2) at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
TELEVISION: The game will be televised on Pac-12 Network with Rich Burk and Don MacLean calling the action.

Oregon State won the most recent meeting, 79-70, on Dec. 2, 2015 at Gill Coliseum. Current Beavers who were freshmen at the time and played in that game were Drew Eubanks (17 points, 9 rebounds), Stephen Thompson Jr. (12 points), Tres Tinkle (6 points) and Gligorije Rakocevic (2 points). Adom Jacko led the Lions with 22 points and Steven Haney added 16.
The Beavers won the first two meetings between the schools, 84-69 on Dec. 9, 1987 at Gill and 100-90 on Dec. 7, 1988 at Loyola Marymount. Bill Sherwood led Oregon State with 26 points in the first game and Eric Knox paced the Beavers with 25 in the second. The late Hank Gathers scored 23 in the 1987 game and followed that up with 34 points and 17 rebounds in the 1988 contest.
The teams combined to score a Gill Coliseum record 230 points on Dec. 19, 1989. The Lions won, 117-113, in that epic game with Bo Kimble (53) and Gary Payton (48) combining for 101 points.
