Everett Posts Career Day in Sweep of Rebels

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Junior Alysha Everett exploded with a career-high five RBI during a 3-for-3 performance to pace the Oregon State softball team in a 9-0 victory and series sweep over UNLV on Sunday afternoon at the OSU Softball Complex. Freshman pitcher, Nerissa Eason led the defense, hurling the complete game to record her eighth win and fourth shutout of the season.

Oregon State got on the board in the first inning after a pair of walks allowed two runs to stroll across and a RBI single by Alysha Everett gave the Beavers a 3-0 lead early.

The Beavers defense put together five-pitch inning in the second before adding to their lead in the second. Oregon State started the inning with three-straight singles to load the bases. Two batters later, Everett recorded another single up the middle to score two runs and increase OSU's lead to five. Stephanie Merwin followed with a RBI on a fielder's choice and Kayleen Shafer knocked a double into the gap in right center to give the Beavers a 7-0 advantage.

Everett continued her success in the third inning after her third single of the game pushed two more runs across and allowed the run rule to come into effect.

Oregon State allowed just one hit in the final two innings, while putting the side down in order in the top of the fifth to end the game.

McKenna Arriola also had a successful day at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 and scoring two runs. Five different Beavers tallied an RBI in the win, including Natalie Hampton who took a walk in the first inning to score a run. The redshirt senior is now tied with Tarrah Beyster (1997-00) for the most runs batted in at Oregon State with 143.

Oregon State (18-15, 1-5 Pac-12) will return to Pac-12 action next weekend with a three-game series at Washington starting Friday night at 5 p.m.All three games will be broadcast on Pac-12 Networks.
