Oregon State Heads East for Two Game Stretch

Beavers take on No. 18 Jayhawks and Cornhuskers in Lincoln, Neb.
The Games: Oregon State hits the road for the first time in the 2018 season as it plays games against No. 18 Kansas and Nebraska at the Nebraska Invitational.

The Newcomers:
- The team welcomes 11 newcomers to the roster for the 2018 season.
- These 11 span from two countries (United States and Jamaica) and four different states (Oregon, California, Hawaii and Washington).
- Erica MacDonald transferred to Oregon State as a junior from Diablo Valley Junior College.
- Six newcomers saw time in the exhibition match against UBC, three of whom started (Keawakane, Skiba and Studer).
- Both Keawakane and Skiba saw all 90 minutes of play.
The Returners
- Allison Pantuso returns for her senior year after leading the 2017 team in the minutes' category with 1723.
- The Beavers return four athletes who scored a goal last season (Leblic, Lemmond, O'Connor and Santiago).
- Diana Santiago is the only returner who recorded a goal and an assist last season.
The Staff:
- Head Coach Linus Rhode is entering his 11th season at the helm of the Oregon State women's soccer team, and is looking to lead the Beavers to their fourth NCAA tournament appearances under his watch.
- Rhode has 86 career wins at Oregon State, which ranks first for the most wins in Oregon State history.
- Prior to becoming a head coach, Rhode was an assistant and associate coach for the Beavers for eight seasons.
- The Beavers enter their second season with Michelle Voiland as the associate head coach after being a longtime assistant with the program.
- Vanessa Valentine returns for her second season as assistant coach.
The Schedule:
- Ten of Oregon State's 19 matches will be home games, including five of its eight nonconference contests.
- The Beavers will face four ranked opponents this season, as well as four other teams that received votes from the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll.
- Four of Oregon State's nonconference opponents come from power conferences.
- The Beavers will take on foes from six different conferences in non-league play. OSU will face two teams from the Big 12, two from the West Coast, and one each from the ACC, Big 10, American East and Ivy League.
- The Beavers will be on TV eight times this year, with their Pac-12 Network debut coming on Aug. 17.
Beavs in the Pros:
- Jodie Taylor currently plays for Seattle Reign FC.
- Taylor recently helped Melbourne City FC win the 2017/18 Westfield W-League Championships.
- Was a member of England's Euro 2017 squad, scoring the winning goal to send the Lionesses to the semi-finals.
- Recently nominated for the Best International Women's Soccer Player at the 2018 ESPYs.
- Rachel Axon currently plays for Kolbotn Fotball in the Norwegian league.
- Greta Espinoza plays for the Spanish club Levante.
- Espinoza was a member of the Mexico National Team who recently won a gold medal at the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games in Barranquilla, Columbia.
- Bella Geist was picked in the third round (29th overall) by the Portland Thorns in the 2018 draft.
- Emma Jones recently signed a contract to play for the Linkopings FC in Sweden.
Oregon State vs. Clemson:
- Freshman goalkeeper Bridgette Skiba recorded six saves in the match, three of which came within the first 15 minutes of play.
- Four players took shots for Oregon State throughout the game (Malone, Brown, Wallerich and Lemmond).
- Clemson netted the only goal of the game in the 88th minute of play off of a free kick scramble inside the box.
Oregon State vs. Stony Brook:
- Oregon State out-shot Stony Brook 23-14.
- 11 Beavers recorded at least one shot during the game, including eight players who recorded two or more (Malone (4), Pantuso and Wallerich (3), Evans, O'Connor, Fried, Santiago and Weinert (2)).
- Bridgette Skiba recorded six saves in the match.
- Stony Brook scored first during the 71st minute.
- Kate Evans recorded the lone goal for the Beavers in the 73rd minute. Her first career goal at Oregon State.
- Tied at the end of regulation, sent to overtime.
- Oregon State was called for a hand-ball inside the penalty box within the first four minute of overtime.
- Stony Brook capitalizes on the penalty shot to capture the win.
