Beavers Head to Seattle for MPSF Championships

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State track & field team is back in action this week in Seattle for the culmination of the indoor season at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Dempsey Indoor Center.

The Beavers are travelling 19 student-athletes to Seattle to compete in 13 different events throughout the weekend. Friday kicks off at noon with the women's weight throw featuring Lindsay McShane, Keely McLaughlin, Sydney Guthrie-Baker and Jessica Molina. Two weeks ago McShane captured the school record in the event at the Don Kirby Classic with a throw of 56-feet, 4-inches.
The beginning of the pentathlon starts soon after at 12:15 p.m. for two Beavers, Saskia McNairy and Claire Corbitt. McNairy set her personal best in the pentathlon earlier this season at the UW Invite totaling 3,555 points.
Tory Edwards and Audrey Bright at the only two entrants for Oregon State into the pole vault. Currently, Edwards sits at No. 2 on the all-time list (12-2), while Bright sits at No. 5 (11-5).
Freshman Lauren Miller will get her chance at the springing events as the only entrant for the Beavers in both the 60 meters and the 200 meters. Miller has previous bests of 7.88-seconds and 25.14-seconds, respectively.
Only one jumping event is to be held on Friday with the women's long jump starting at 5:15 p.m. Ann Wingeleth will have to carry the hopes for OSU as she is the only entrant into the event for OSU. Wingeleth currently has the second-best jump of all-time at Oregon State, 19-feet, 1.25-inches.
Oregon State has found success in the distance events all season long, Brigette Takeuchi and Haley Wolf will represent the orange and black in the 5,000 meters on Friday evening. The remainder of the distance crew races on Saturday afternoon in the 3,000 meters: Grace Fetherstonhaugh, Takeuchi, Lexi Reed, Wolf and Audrey Lookner.
The Beavers are entered into two relay events, one on Friday and once on Saturday. The distance medley relay is the final event for OSU on Friday evening and will feature Mari Friedman, Tarisa Olinski, Rebecca Ledsham and Lexi Reed. On Saturday, the final event of the day once again for the Beavers will be a relay, this time for the 4x400 meters featuring Olinski, Ledsham, Miller, and Friedman.
Saturday's festivities jump off at 10 a.m. for the Beavers with Wingeleth and freshman Emma Nelson in the high jump. Wingeleth currently ranks No. 6 on the OSU all-time list in the high jump at 5-feet, 9.25-inches.
The throwing crew, with the addition of Taylor Crockem, finishes out their weekend Saturday morning in the shot put. The group currently holds spots two through five on the all-time list. With McLaughlin and Molina earning their spots on the list at the Don Kirby Classic two weeks ago.
Freshman Darien Hageman will join Wingeleth and Nelson for the final jumping event of the weekend in the triple jump at noon on Saturday. Rebecca Ledsham and Mari Friedman enter the 800 meters shortly after. Ledsham notched the second-fastest time in the 800 meters in OSU history earlier this season at the UW Preview, 2:12.05.
