Beavers Wrap Up Busy Weekend with Strong Performance

CORVALLIS – The Oregon State track and field team wrapped up a busy weekend on Saturday at the Don Kirby and Husky Classics.

The Beavers accumulated eight all-time marks or times during the day, which included every entrant into the mile getting their name in the record books.
Â
Freshman Mari Friedman was the top finisher for the Beavers in the mile running a time of 4:53.84 for a 27th place overall finish. Friedman's time moved her to No. 5 all-time for Oregon State. Lexi Reed was close behind Freidman finishing in 28th overall, and No. 6 in the OSU record books, with a time of 4:54.08.

Grace Fetherstonhaugh and Haley Wolf finished in 31st and 33rd place respectively. Fetherstonhaugh ran the eight-best time in school history at 4:54.94, while Wolf finished with the 10th-fastest time of 4:55.68.

The throwing crew had another great outing in the shot put on Saturday morning. Keely McLaughlin improved her No. 2 all-time distance for Oregon State with a throw of 47-feet, 5.75-inches, finishing in second place in her flight.

Jessica Molina captured the top spot of her flight with a throw of 45-feet, 1.5-inches. Her mark was the fourth-best indoor shot put throw in school history.

A pair of freshman jumpers made their mark on the history books in the triple jump in Darien Hageman and Emma Nelson. Both Hageman and Nelson now sit at No. 7 all-time for OSU with jumps of 36-feet, 4-inches.

The Beavers are taking the next week off as they enter their final preparations for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships on Feb. 22-23.
