OSU Falls to Utah in Game Two

CORVALLIS – Frankie Hammoude hit her 11th home run on the season but the Beavers fall to Utah, 6-2, on Friday afternoon in Corvallis.
Hammoude led the team with two hits during the game. Shelby Weeks, Camryn Ybarra, Fallon Molnar, Michelle Sass and Izzy Owen recorded a hit for the Beavers as well.
Utah jumped out to an early lead in the second inning and added another in the third.
Oregon State struck back in the bottom of the third with a single from Sass who was able to advance to second on a throwing error. Owen advanced Sass to third base before Maia Rader brought her home making it 4-1 in favor of the Utes.
Utah scored once more in the fourth and again in the seventh.
Hammoude blasted her home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to finish 2-for-3 on the day.
On the defensive side, Jessica Garcia robbed a Utah home run after she jumped over the left field fence to snag the ball. Nerissa Eason came up big in the fifth inning with a strike out to get the Beavers out of a bases loaded situation and limit Utah damage. In the sixth, Eason struck out a batter and Kayleen Shafer made the throw to Rader at second to catch a runner stealing for a double play. Rader also made an impressive diving catch in the seventh to get OSU out of the inning.
Meehra Nelson started in the circle for the Beavers and pitched 3.0 inning striking out three batters before Eason came into the game. Eason pitched 4.0 innings and also struck out three batters.

Oregon State and Utah will have the rubber match tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. at the OSU Softball Complex to conclude regular-season play.
