Beavers roll Mustangs, 45-7

Oregon State set the tone early in the first half by using fast and efficient drives to get on the board first. The Beavers stormed down the field for 74 yards in which Luton found a familiar target in junior reciever Isaiah Hodgins for a quick eight-yard strike to go up 7-0. Â A big offensive quarter for Luton carried on in the first quarter with the senior finding Hodgins once again for his second time on the afternoon, marking the junior's fifth touchdown through three games.
However, it was sophomore receiver Champ Flemings who helped break the score open heading into halftime. Flemings would pick up two late touchdowns in the second quarter which kick started a monster offensive day as the sophomore finished with 142 receiving yards and two touchdowns.Â
Â
Flemings first took matters into his own hands at the end of the second quarter by hauling in a memorable 47-yard pass over a Cal Poly defender for the tough-earned touchdown. Flemings would catch another long ball for a 75-yard touchdown to put the Beavers up 38-7 heading into the break. Â
Â
The dominance on the offensive end continued and didn't let up until the Beavers were finally forced to punt with 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter. The impressive rushing attack was led by sophomore B.J. Baylor (101 yards) and senior Artavis Pierce (90 yards) who combined for 191 yards. Baylor collected a run of 74 yards in the third quarter to help lead the Beavers in rushing. Sophomore quarterback Tristan Gebbia relieved Luton of quarterback duties in the second half and rushed for his first career touchdown to round out the Beaver scoring.Â
 Â
The Beaver defense was equally as dominant as the offense with multiple Beavers answering the call. Sophomore John McCartan led with 12 tackles including six solo and a sack. Junior Hamilcar Rashed Jr. and junior Doug Taumoelau both picked up seven apiece.Â
