
Beavers Fall to Gators at Moda

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Oregon State men's basketball team fell to Florida 81-68 at Moda Center Friday on the second day of the Phil Knight Legacy Tournament.
Freshman Jordan Pope scored in double-figures for the sixth-straight time to start his young career, finishing with 12 points and five assists. Tyler Bilodeau came up with 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting, while Michael Rataj rounded out three OSU freshmen in double-figures with 11 points and four rebounds, knocking down five of his six field goal attempts.
Dexter Akanno had eight points, a mark that was matched by Gleen Taylor Jr. Freshman post KC Ibekwe made his Oregon State debut in the contest, scoring on his first possession of the game.
Oregon State shot 46.4 percent in the contest, and 55.2 percent in the second half. Thirty-two of the Beavers' 68 points came off the bench.
Florida scored the first nine points of the game to jump out to an early lead. The Gators proceeded to go in front 17-2. Florida led by as many 23 in the first half, but Oregon State used a late surge to the intermission down just 13 at 42-29.
Florida extended the advantage again in the second half. The Beavers battled back to get within 12, but could not get any closer, as the Gators took the win by 13. The two sides were level on scoring in the second half at 39 points apiece.
Oregon State will take on either Portland State or West Virginia on Sunday at the Chiles Center on the campus of the University of Portland. Tip time and TV information for that contest will be announced Friday evening.
