Beavs Pack Podium in Salem

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State recorded 13 top-three finishes and three wins in its second outdoor track and field meet of the year on Saturday.

The Beavers totaled up eight personal best marks among the 15 that competed at the Willamette Invitational including one move up the OSU Top 10. Â

The field group opened the day for the Beavers with five top-three results across two events. OSU filled the podium in the high jump with Emma Nelson, Savannah Reilly and Anneke Moersdorf taking the top three spots.

In the javelin, Maryann Ackerman placed second with a 43.27m/141-11 toss. Jazlyn Romero came in right behind Ackerman with a 40.54m/133-0 throw in her season debut. Mia Fowler closed the day in the field with a career-best 2.05m/10-0 clearance in the pole vault.

On the track, Adael Scatena continued her hot start to the outdoor season with a victory and the no. 4 time in school history in the 400-meter hurdles. The junior's 1:00.59 narrowly outpaced teammate Taylor Weidinger (1:02.73), who finished second with a personal best of her own.

Anneke Moersdorf and Delaney Bahn opened the day by taking the top two spots in the 100-meter hurdles with times of 14.79 and 14.91. Bahn's runner-up result came with a personal best.

In the 400 meters, Jada Hurley led three Beavers with a second place finish in 58.66 seconds. It was Hurley's first 400 meter race in college as well as Ava Gross'. The freshman finished fifth in 59.13 while Paige Sefried placed fourth with a PR of 58.88.

Chelsea Howard notched another PR and top-three finish for the Beavs with a 12.46 in the 100 meters. Ava McKee followed that mark with a personal best of 2:24.95 and a third-place result in the 800.

UP NEXT
Oregon State's sprints, jumps and throws groups are headed to Austin for the Texas Relays while the distance team travels to the Bay Area for the Stanford Invitational.
