Oregon Twilight Up Next for Track & Field

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State will look to make the most of two more chances to record regional qualifying marks starting on Friday at the Oregon Twilight.

The meet begins for the Beavers at 2:15 p.m. in the field and 5:30 p.m. on the track. Â It will be broadcast on RunnerSpace ($) and live results are available here.

LAST TIME OUT
Oregon State posted several regional qualifying marks and broke a school record at the OSU High Performance Meet last weekend.

The weekend began with Kaylee Mitchell and Grace Fetherstonhaugh posting two of the country's top five times in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on day one before Keely McLaughlin broke her own school record in the shot put on day two.
Â
Throwers Ella Knott and Jade Whitfield also recorded strong marks in the discus. Whitfield broke the Whyte Center Record with a 55.36m/181-7 while Knott's 50.25m/164-10 throw in the javelin ranked in the top-40 nationally at the time. Adael Scatena raced to a 13.97 in the 100-meter hurdles to move up to no. 5 all-time at OSU while Taylor Weidinger jumped to fifth in the 400-meter hurdles.

READY FOR REGIONALS
Oregon State has several potential regional qualifiers heading into one of their final two chances to make the regional meet. The top 48 individuals and 24 relays make the meet with the best 12 from the regional advancing to the NCAA Championships.

Grace Fetherstonhaugh and Kaylee Mitchell are each triple-qualified in the 1,500 meters, 5,000 meters and 3,000 meter steeplechase. Fetherstonhaugh owns top-five marks in each. Jade Whitfield also owns a top-five mark with the no. 4 spot in the discus while fellow thrower Ella Knott ranks 21st in the javelin.

Adael Scatena, Christina Geisler and Anneke Moersdorf all own marks that would qualify for a regional if the season ended today. Scatena's 59.57 in the 400-meter hurdles is 40th in the region. Moersdorf's 6.11m long jump is 41st and Geisler's 33:41.93 performance in the 10,000 meters ranks 44th.

Among those looking to move into qualifying position this weekend are Emma Nelson (currently 56th in the high jump), Delaney Bahn (49th – long jump), Taylor Weidinger (63rd – 400 meter hurdles) and Maryann Ackerman (65th – javelin). The senior shot put duo of Taylor Crockem (57th) and Keely McLaughlin (52nd) also can put themselves in qualifying position with a strong performance either this week or next.
