Beavs Fall on Senior Day
April 28, 2024 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Utah broke open a then-low scoring game in the seventh on the way to spoiling the season finale at home for the Oregon State softball team at Kelly Field with a 5-0 win.
With a 1-0 lead in the final stanza, the Utes doubled the lead from a no-doubt home run to left center before adding another three for insurance to take down the Beavers (20-26, 8-14) on Sunday.
Ellie Garcia (6-10) was charged with the loss as she went 6.1 innings and allowed all of Utah's runs off five hits and a walk. Appearing in relief, Sarah Haendiges tossed the final 0.2 innings, striking out one and yielding a hit.
Following outputs of five and seven hits in the previous games of the series, the Beavers were held to just three, which came from the bats of Madyson Clark, Eliana Gottlieb and Charity Sevaaetasi. Additionally, the Oregon State offense sputtered with runners in scoring position, stranding eight in the contest.
In the next time out, the Beavers will head south to the Bay Area when they'll battle California in the final series of the regular season. Friday's first pitch from Berkeley is set for 3 p.m. and can be seen on the Pac-12 Networks.
