EUGENE, Ore. – The Oregon State closed the nonconference portion of the 2024 season, falling to 12th-ranked Oregon in a road matchup in Eugene on Sunday.
Oregon State (2-8) was limited to a .000 clip in the three-set (17-25, 15-25, 13-25) match.
Annika Hester and Lauren Rumel paced the Beavers' attack with six kills each while Emma Lilo helped the offense with 11 kills – her 10th consecutive match with double-figures in the stat. With a trio of kills on eight attacks, Kalli Schoening – a Eugene native – led the offense in hitting percentage at .375. Yasemin Narlioglu's 15 digs led the defense and Shoening and Hester each tallied a pair of blocks.
Vivian Light and Rumel each added a service ace as well.
Looking to get even after the Ducks took the first set, the Beavers held onto early leads at 5-2 and 6-4 while also being tied on three instances before the hosts pulled away to take the 2-0 lead. Oregon took control early in the third set and did not let up on the way to securing the rivalry win.
Oregon State will open conference play back at home against Pepperdine on Thursday. First serve against the Waves is set for 7 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+.
