
Beavers Sweep Tigers

STOCKTON, Calif. – Oregon State volleyball secured its 17th win on the season in commanding fashion, sweeping the Pacific Tigers with 25-22, 25-12 and 25-12 victory on Saturday.
Annika Hester led the Beaver attack with 13 kills (4.33/set) on a .400 hitting clip. Maëli Cormier chipped in nine kills (3.0/set) on a .333 mark while Jackie Matias orchestrated the offense with 26 assists, also adding six digs and a team-high three service aces. Yasemin Narlioglu paced the defense with a team-high 12 digs (4.0/set) while Alana Marrs led all players with six total blocks (2.0/set), four of which were solo.
Though Pacific opened the match with a quick 3-0 run in the first, the Beavers battled back, utilizing runs of 4-0 and 3-0 to help secure a 25-22 set win that was fueled by eight Hester kills. Oregon State broke open the second with a .448 hitting rate while Hester, Marrs and Lauren Rumel all had three kills in the set, defensively, Pacific hitting to just .091.
Looking to close out the sweep, the Beavers cruised in the third with another lopsided set win at 25-12. Oregon State forced Pacific to a negative hitting mark (-.032) while the offense hit .360 to seal the victory. Cormier contributed five kills as OSU sealed the sweep with a 6-0 run to finish the match.
