Beaver Women’s Rowing Sweeps NCAA Boats at Home Regatta
March 29, 2025 | Women's Rowing
LOWELL, Ore. – Oregon State women's rowing earned victories in the first and second varsity eights, as well as in the varsity fours, at a home regatta against No. 21 Gonzaga and Portland on Saturday at Dexter Reservoir.
The regatta began with the Gonzaga and Oregon State third and fourth varsity fours going, a race that saw the Beavs finish in second and fourth, respectively. Soon after, in the 2V4+, OSU once again finished second, coming in seven seconds behind Gonzaga but 41 ahead of Portland.
OSU's first win of the day came in the varsity fours, taking a commanding 11 second victory to set the stage for both varsity eights. The 2V8+ was up first and kept the momentum going, crossing the finish line some five seconds ahead of Gonzaga to make it two straight wins.
In the varsity eight race, Beaver women's rowing made it three wins on the day, finishing strong with a 6:28.60 to best Gonzaga (6:35.14) and Portland (6:57.39).
Saturday's racing concluded with a 3V8+ and 4/5V8+ race that saw OSU's third eights finish in second place.
Saturday's sweep of the NCAA boats was a first for OSU this season, having previously earned wins at the PLU Invite (2V8+, 1V4+) and Husky Open (2V8+) when the squad was split up for a pair of races on March 8.
Oregon State returns to action on April 5, hitting the road for a head-to-head competition against Washington State.
