Canon Reeder launched a two-run home run in the second inning to send Oregon State to a 2-1 win over Long Beach State Thursday night in Corvallis. Eric Segura didn't allow a hit until the sixth inning and earned his eighth win of the season after scattering a hit and a run with six strikeouts. Wyatt Queen struck out three over two scoreless innings for the save.

Oregon State Notables
• Dax Whitney is slated to make his 14th start of the season but just the fourth at home. He is 1-0 with a 0.57 ERA in 15 2/3 innings at Goss Stadium, striking out 22 to just eight hits and seven walks.
• Whitney is making his first start at home since April 5 when he held UC Irvine to three hits and a run in 4 2/3 innings. The Beavers won that game, the second in the series, 4-2.
• Canon Reeder extended his hit streak to five games with the second-inning home run Thursday. He is 7-for-18 with two doubles and a home run during the streak.
• OSU's bullpen is 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA in 40 1/3 innings in the month of May. They've strick out 34 to 12 walks and 32 hits allowed for a WHIP of 1.07.
• The Beavers held LBSU without an extra-base hit, the 11th time OSU has done so versus an opponent this season.
• Oregon State improved to 14-3 against Big West Conference opponents on Thursday.
