TOOK CARE OF BUSINESS:
Beaver women's soccer was victorious in its last game, defeating Utah, 2-1, at Ute Field. Fueled by a strong second half that saw the Beavers comeback from a one-goal deficit thanks to goals from Mia Erba and Carly Carraher, the win was OSU's first of the season and brings the team to 1-3-3 on the year.
BANGERS ONLY:
Carraher's game-winner, a rocket to the near post from just outside the box, was her first in 2025. Having assisted on a pair of goals earlier this season to go with Sunday's goal, Carraher is now in a tie for the team lead in points (four), as the Portland native has appeared in all seven games, making three starts and playing 444 minutes.
DON'T LET UP:
Assisting on Carraher's game-winner was Alyssa White, who found herself on the scoresheet for the first time as a Beav. White nearly found the back of the net soon after from a near identical spot to Carraher's goal, but an acrobatic save kept the Beaver lead to just one. A Nashville, Tenn., native, White has nearly found herself on the scoresheet many times this season with shots from range, but saves and the woodwork have kept her scoreless.
TWO:
After Oregon State conceded in the 2nd minute of play, Mia Erba drew Sunday's game level in the second minute of the second half. Through two-and-a-half seasons at OSU, Erba has started 34 of 39 appearances and played over 3,000 minutes deep in the team's midfield, but Sunday's goal was her first in orange and black after finishing with one assist during her freshman season and no goals or assists as a sophomore.
A NEW ROLE:
London Tsuma has been a key figure off the Beaver bench this season, but against Utah, the Portland native earned her first career start; she finished with one shot across 83 minutes played. Through seven appearances in 2025, Tsuma has never played fewer than 29 minutes, and was credited with her first career assist one week prior to Sunday's game when the Beavers played South Dakota State to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 7.
BALANCE:
Against Utah, Oregon State played with a balanced attack, as seven different athletes recorded at least one shot in the game. Through seven contests in 2025, there are five different Beavers averaging one or more shots per contest: Nathalie Lewis (2.3), Alyssa White (1.8), Paola Figueroa (1.1), Adele Schwab (1.1) and Rin Choi (1.0).
Of the team's 75 shots this season, the Beavers are putting 40% of them on target and converting 9.3% into goals.
RESERVES:
In Salt Lake City, Oregon State had five players feature off the bench, tying a season high. Carraher, who scored the game-winner, played 59 minutes while Hailey Martinez (48 minutes), Choi (40 minutes), Isa Calderon (seven minutes) and Nathalie Mejia (three minutes) all checked into the game. Across seven games in 2025, 18 different student-athletes have featured for the Beavers, and just five have started every single game.
BEAVS IN THE PROS:
With Katie Godden (Charlton Athletic / England) and McKenna Martinez (Valadares Gaia / Portugal) each signing professional contracts after the conclusion of last season, Oregon State has officially sent six players into the professional ranks across the last four seasons. Led off by Laura Galceran and Bridgette Skiba in 2021, Reese Moffatt signed a deal in 2022 before Hailey Coll in 2023 and both Godden and Martinez in 2024.
In total, there are currently 10 former Beavers active in the professional ranks, playing in countries such as Portugal, Norway, Spain, England, Mexico and the United States; this list is highlighted by Bella Bixby (née Geist), who currently plays for the Portland Thorns of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), but also includes Kate Evans (West Brom), Emma Jones (Portsmouth) and Greta Espinoza (Tigres).
BACK THE PAC:
Oregon State will play its final season in the West Coast Conference this fall before returning to Pac-12 play in 2026. All eight of the conference's other members, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State, Utah State and Washington State, sponsor women's soccer, each bringing a high level of talent to the conference. Utah State is the reigning Mountain West Tournament Champion, also winning the conference tournament in 2023, while Boise State was crowned regular season champion in 2024 after San Diego State was crowned regular season champions the year prior. Texas State is coming off a 12-win season that ended with a 3-2 loss in the Sun Belt Championship while Gonzaga was picked to finish third in the WCC.
