BRAND NEW SEASON:
This week's games against Pepperdine and LMU signify the start of conference play for Oregon State's second season in the West Coast Conference. The Beavers came out on fire to start conference play last season, winning four and playing Saint Mary's to a scoreless draw in the first five games against WCC opponents. Later during the conference schedule, OSU defeated then-ranked No. 11 Santa Clara, 2-1, and was in the running for the conference title until the final week of play, finishing with five wins over WCC opponents.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK:
Oregon State senior Mya Sanchez was named West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The Turlock, Calif., native had a strong showing in the Beavers' 1-1 draw at Fresno State over the weekend, making eight saves and boasting a save percentage of 88.9%. After Saturday's performance, Sanchez now leads the conference in saves with 40, while also maintaining a save percentage of 78.4% and allowing 1.38 goals per game; she has made eight or more saves in three different games this season.
ROAD WARRIORS:
Through eight nonconference games, Oregon State has played at home just three times, and the opening pair of road contests means the program will have not played a single home match in the month of September, six matches in total. With the last home match coming on Aug. 31 and return date set for Oct. 4 against Portland, Oregon State will have officially gone 34 days between home games.
BACK OF THE NET:
Alyssa White scored her first goal of the season in the 21st minute of Saturday's game at Fresno State, the latest in what's been a strong run of form for the Nashville, Tenn., native, who assisted on the game-winning goal at Utah last weekend before scoring the leveler in Fresno. With one shot across 73 minutes played, White is now up to 10 shots across six appearances this fall, all of which have been starts, and she joins Carly Carraher as the only Beavers with at least one goal and one assist this season.
LEADING THE OUTFIELD:
Mia Erba has played 720 minutes this season, meaning she has played every single minute of every single game, taking up a key role deep in the Oregon State midfield. Though her impact often doesn't show in the box score, Erba scored the game-tying goal last weekend during a 2-1 win over Utah, and she's now one of nine Beavers to tally a point in the 2025 season.
SEASON HIGH:
After playing 16 minutes across three appearances in the first seven games this season, Nathalie Mejia against Fresno State spent 54 minutes on the pitch. Mejia brings a ton of experience to the Oregon State midfield, as she's now up to 2,674 minutes of action at the Division I level, having played three seasons at Mount St. Mary's prior to joining the Beavers this offseason; last year, Mejia finished with three goals and three assists across 18 appearances for the Mountaineers.
STARTING XI:
Hailey Martinez made her return to the starting eleven in Fresno, recording one shot across a career-best 81 minutes of action in the Beavers' 1-1 draw. Martinez, originally from Gainesville, Va., spent 48 minutes on the pitch in OSU's 2-1 win over Utah last weekend and has now featured in five games thus far, previously starting at home against Weber State on Aug. 17 while playing some 243 minutes on the Beaver backline.
CAREER YEAR:
Named a team captain prior to the season, Megin Turi has played a ton of minutes across four seasons in orange and black, but in 2025 has played a bigger role than ever. Entering the season with 24 starts across 51 appearances, Turi has started all eight games thus far, lining up in multiple positions. She was mere inches from finding the back of the net against Idaho State on Aug. 28, but her shot just clipped the woodwork and bounced out and is now up to four shots (two on goal) across 561 minutes played.
CREATING CHANCES:
Nathalie Lewis has been a key figure in the Oregon State attack this season, leading the team in goals (two), shots (20) and shots on target (12) across 615 minutes played. Entering conference play, Lewis has finished with at least two shots on goal in three of her last four appearances, while her shots on goal total ranks in a tie for No. 1 in the conference; in total shots, Lewis ranks fourth.
BACK THE PAC:
Oregon State will play its final season in the West Coast Conference this fall before returning to Pac-12 play in 2026. All eight of the conference's other members, Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State, Texas State, Utah State and Washington State, sponsor women's soccer, each bringing a high level of talent to the conference. Utah State is the reigning Mountain West Tournament Champion, also winning the conference tournament in 2023, while Boise State was crowned regular season champion in 2024 after San Diego State was crowned regular season champions the year prior. Texas State is coming off a 12-win season that ended with a 3-2 loss in the Sun Belt Championship while Gonzaga was picked to finish third in the WCC preseason poll.
