LOS ANGELES, Calif.- Behind a lights-out performance from the Oregon State offense including a career-high five passing touchdowns from sixth-year quarterback Jake Luton, Oregon State picked up its first win over UCLA since 2012 as they rolled the Bruins on Saturday night, 48-31, at the Rose Bowl.

Luton exploded for six touchdowns on the night as he completed 18-of-26 attempts for 256 yards. The quarterback led an organized offensive attack for the Beavers out of the gate as he picked up a career-high five touchdowns through the air and one on his feet late in the contest to seal a dominating road victory.

Every time the UCLA offense seemed to score, the Beavers had an answer throughout the night with multiple players stepping up at key times. Oregon State set the tone early as the offense scored an improbable three touchdowns in a four-minute span to jump out to a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.

Junior receiver Isaiah Hodgins continued to impress as he hauled in a career-high three touchdowns for 123 yards and put the Beavers on the board first with a four-yard leaping score. The consistent receiver was reliable throughout the contest as he helped extend Oregon State's lead every time the Bruins seemed to gain momentum. Luton found Hodgins twice in the first half with each of the touchdowns coming at a critical point in the game as the duo continued their memorable quarterback-receiver dynamic.

Senior Artavis Pierce led with a commanding performance on the ground as he rushed for 119 yards and continues to move up on the Oregon State all-time rushing records. Pierce helped extend the Beavers lead in the first half with a five-yard rush but in the blink of an eye, another Beaver was in the end zone less than a minute later off of a Bruin turnover. Luton found sophomore tight end Teagan Quitoriano on a 27-yard pass which capped off a commanding first half for the Beavers.

With the Bruins down 17 after the break, things became too close for comfort when UCLA suddenly jumped to within 10 as they trailed 27-17. However, the Beavers were always knocking on the door once again as a 53-yard pass from Luton to redshirt sophomore Tyjon Lindsey put Oregon State back in control.

A key 75-yard drive that resulted in a 22-yard touchdown to a wide open Hodgins and a late rush from Luton helped seal up a complete game on both sides of the ball for Oregon State.

On defense, 19 Beavers recorded a tackle, led by senior Shermar Smith who tallied 12 including eight solo stops. Smith also recorded a forced fumble, tackle for loss and sack in an impressive defensive effort.

Next Up:
Oregon State returns home to Reser Stadium when they host the Utah Utes for another Pac-12 contest on Saturday, Oct. 12. The game is slated for 5:00 p.m. and will be televised on PAC-12 Networks.
