Beavs Fall in Saturday Showdown
February 15, 2025 | Softball
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Oregon State softball team closed the Wilson Tournament on Saturday morning, falling to Southern Utah by a 1-0 line.
Southern Utah took advantage of a fielding error by the Beavers (3-5) to get on the board for the game-deciding run in the contest's opening inning.
Jada Lewis led the Oregon State offense on the day with a pair of hits (a single and a double) while Paige Bambarger also added a single. With a pair of stolen bases, Bambarger paced the Beavers in the category.
Oregon State threatened on multiple instances, with a runner reaching scoring position in four of the game's seven frames. In the second, fourth and seventh innings, the Beavers stranded runners at second base with two outs.
Despite going the distance, Logan Hulon (2-4) was charged with the loss after being responsible for the Thuderbirds' run. The Dripping Springs, Texas, product fanned seven but walked four.
The Beavers will be back in action next week at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, opening the tournament with a two-game day against Tennessee and CSUN. First pitch against the Lady Vols is set for 3 p.m. and the game against the Matadors is scheduled for approximately 5:30 p.m. FloSoftball will have the exclusive streaming of the event.
