Oregon State Rallies, Comes Up Just Short Against Auburn

Oregon State, down 8-3 after seven, scored four over the final two frames. Turley hit a two-run home run in the eighth. The Beavers, down three entering the ninth, rallied for two runs. The first came on a passed ball, then it became a one-run game when Aiva Arquette singled to center.
Auburn (10-1), however, escaped the jam with a strikeout for out No. 2. Reliever Jett Johnston then battled Turley to a 2-2 count before the Oregon State (6-3) slugger hit one 400 feet to nearly straightaway center, ending the game at the warning track.
The rally came after Auburn scored six consecutive runs to take an 8-3 lead, highlighted by a two-run home run from Chris Rembert to give the Tigers a three-run lead in the fifth.
Turley, Canon Reeder and Jacob Krieg all homered for Oregon State. Reeder went deep for his first career long ball in the second, then watched Krieg hit a solo shot – his fifth home run of the season – in the third, putting the Beavers up 3-2.
Dax Whitney allowed four hits and four runs in 3 2/3 innings to take the loss for OSU, dropping to 1-2 on the year.
Cam Tilly, the second of five Auburn relievers, was the pitcher of record and is now 2-0 on the year. His lone blemish in 2 1/3 innings was Krieg's home run in the third.

Oregon State concludes its trip to Globe Life Field with a 9 a.m. PT (11 a.m. in Texas) matchup versus Ohio State. The game will air live on Flo Baseball.
