Big Fifth Inning Seals Series Win in San Diego
April 19, 2025 | Softball
SAN DIEGO – A big fifth inning for the Oregon State softball team helped secure the season's first conference road series win on Sunday afternoon in a 4-1 win over San Diego.
The Beavers (19-18, 2-3 WCC) pulled away in the fifth inning after plating three on four hits. With one away and Paige Bambarger standing on second after a double, Ella Dardis drove her home on a single down the right side that split between the first and second basemen to give the Beavers the lead back. Dardis and Jada Lewis capped the scoring in the frame when they crossed home off a Lici Campbell single.
The two sides traded one-run innings in the second off a Tristian Thompson homer for the Beavers while the Toreros used a RBI single in the home half. Thompson's home run was her second in as many contests following her three-run longball in the sixth in last night's outing.
Logan Hulon picked up the win after throwing all of the game's 7.0 innings. The graduate student from Texas struck out five and allowed the one run on four hits.
Campbell led Oregon State with two RBI while six different Beavers accounted for a hit on the day.
The Beavers will be back in action this coming Saturday – April 26th – for the beginning of a three-game set against Saint Mary's (Calif.) at Kelly Field. First pitch for game one is set for 3 p.m.
