Beavers Win Second-Straight by Defeating Hawaii

CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – A Tristian Thompson double that drove in two runs was the difference as Oregon State softball (6-7) defeated Hawaii (5-8) on day two of the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic Friday night.
Thompson's hit came with two outs in the third, driving in Paige Bamberger and Camrynn Gordon who both singled earlier in the inning. With the RBI, Thompson is now in double-digits for the season and has driven in four runs across her last three appearances, while Gordon finished the game 2-3, notching her first career multi-hit performance.
Amelia Streuber started in the circle and pitched five shutout innings, allowing six hits and striking out two of the 19 batters she faced, earning her fourth victory of the season. Haydn Milley entered to start the sixth for her Oregon State debut, striking out one in one inning of work, and Bailey Murray threw one scoreless inning to finish the game.
Hawaii created scoring chances throughout the game but OSU's defense, which finished with no errors, came up with a number of crucial plays. On a ball hit deep to left center field, Mya Harrison fired a laser to home plate to catch a runner that was attempting to tag up from third with nobody out in the second inning, and Jaeya Butler made a diving play at second base to keep the ball from reaching the outfield, flipping it to Gordon to prevent a runner from reaching scoring position in the fifth.
The Rainbow Wahine scored on a wild pitch in the seventh inning but OSU slammed the door shut to win its sixth game of the 2026 season and move to 2-1 at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.
Beaver softball will match up with Bethune Cookman (9:30 a.m.) and CSUN (12 p.m.) tomorrow before closing the tournament with a 9 a.m. game against Long Beach State on Sunday.
