Oregon State Falls to Nevada and Sacramento State
March 07, 2026 | Softball
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon State softball fell to Nevada and Sacramento State, games that finished 10-2 and 7-6 in favor of the opponents, on Saturday at the Jane Sanders Classic.
Game one: Nevada 10, Oregon State 2 (final/six innings)
Early offense was once again the name of the game for Oregon State, who scored just four pitches into the matchup. Jada Lewis tripled in the leadoff spot and scored on a Jaeya Butler sacrifice fly to put the Beavers ahead in the first, but Nevada quickly responded with a five run first inning.
Lewis singled in another run in the second after Mya Harrison singled and made her way to third base on a single and fielder's choice, but the bats cooled off and Nevada added runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to take the win; Lewis finished 2-3 with one run scored.
Alliyah Rodriguez was 2-2, her second multi-hit game of the season, while the defense was perfect and did not commit an error. Amelia Streuber started and was relieved by Haydn Milley, who allowed one hit and no runs in one inning pitched, while Bailey Murray struck out one across the game's final 4.1 innings.
Game two: Sacramento State 7, Oregon State 6
Oregon State scored in the first inning once again against the Hornets, as Tristian Thompson smashed a 3-2 pitch into the gap in right center field to drive in the first run of the game. After a few quiet innings, OSU built its lead up to five with a strong fifth inning at the plate that featured four runs scored across three-consecutive at-bats.
Camrynn Gordon got on base after a fielder's choice and advanced on a Lewis walk before Lici Campbell drove her home with a single. Thompson then hit yet another double to right center that was followed by Morgan Howey doubling her home with a shot down the left field line, putting the team up 5-0 in the top of the fifth.
Sacramento State got on the board with four in the bottom half of the inning, however, but the Beavers looked added an insurance run on a Harrison sacrifice fly in the seventh; the Hornets scored three in the bottom half of the inning to win the game.
Thompson tallied her seventh multi-hit game of the season, hitting 3-3 with two doubles and a hit by pitch; Campbell, Gordon, Harrison, Howey and Lewis all finished 1-3. Kimberlee Aleman pitched 6.2 innings, allowing eight hits and one earned run, striking out three across 80 total pitches.
The Jane Sanders Classic concludes with a matchup against the Hornets slated for 10 a.m. Sunday.
