Late Surge Not Enough in Loss to Saint Mary’s
April 18, 2026 | Softball
MORAGA, Calif. – Oregon State softball scored all three of its runs in the fifth and sixth innings of a loss to Saint Mary's on Saturday, falling 8-3 in Moraga.
The Beaver bats combined for two hits in the first four innings but started finding some rhythm early in the fifth. Trailing by four, singles by Paige Bambarger, Mya Harrison and Jada Lewis loaded the bases with two down, setting the stage for Jaeya Butler, who won a 12-pitch showdown and walked in a run.
Three pitches later, Lici Campbell smacked a ball into left field to cut the deficit down to two runs, making it a 4-2 game.
Campbell finished the game 2-4, joining Madison Weir (2-3, double, walk) as OSU hitters to record multi-hit performances. Lewis also walked to finish 1-3 while Harrison went 1-2 and was hit by a pitch in the sixth.
Saint Mary's scored an insurance run in the bottom half of the inning but Oregon State quickly responded, as Morgan Howey got ahold of the first pitch of the sixth, hitting a long ball to left field to bring the Beavs back within two. Across 45 appearances this season, Howey is now hitting .303 with nine home runs and 26 RBI, both of which are top-10 marks in the West Coast Conference.
Kimberlee Aleman started Saturday's matchup, allowing eight hits and four earned runs while striking out two across five innings pitched. Amelia Streuber struck out one Gael in one third inning pitched before Haydn Milley face the final two batters, throwing seven pitches while allowing one hit and no runs.
Saint Mary's put the game away with a three run sixth to take an 8-3 result.
