Beavers Fall in Weekend Finale

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Oregon State softball team fell to Saint Mary's (Calif.) in the weekend series finale on Sunday afternoon at Kelly Field by a 7-3 score.
Nicole Donahue and Tristian Thompson led the Oregon State (19-21, 2-6) offense with solo home runs in the second and third innings, respectively. A Morgan Howey double to deep center scored Justice Flores in the fifth inning to chip away at the deficit. Howey also led all Beaver hitters with a pair of hits while Paige Bambarger and Flores also added one apiece.
Ellie Garcia threw the first 4.0 innings of the game and was charged with the loss after giving up six runs on six hits and three walks. Throwing the last 3.0 frames in relief, Logan Hulon struck out a pair despite allowing an unearned run off a pair of hits.
Oregon State will open their final road series next week with a league doubleheader against Pacific. Action against the Tigers from Stockton, Calif., is set for a noon start on Saturday, May 3.
