Thompson Powers Beavs to Doubleheader Sweep

STOCKTON, Calif. – The Oregon State softball opened the final road series with a sweep of Pacific on Saturday afternoon.
Tristian Thompson drove in a combined four of the Beavers' 11 runs between the games.
Game 1: OSU 6, Pacific 1
Following a solo home run by the Tigers' leadoff hitter, the Beavers buckled down for the win in the day's opener by a 6-1 margin.
Oregon State went ahead with two runs on three hits in the second and never looked back to snap a three-game skid. Following a one-out single by Morgan Howey, Thompson slammed a homer to left field to give OSU a three-run cushion at 4-1. The Beavers crossed the plate twice more to give Logan Hulon, the game's pitcher, further insurance.
The Beavers used 13 hits to power the performance, led by Lici Campbell's three and three others with a pair.
Hulon (11-12) took the win after tossing the game's entirety. The graduate student threw all 7.0, struck out 10 to six hits allowed with the sole run.
Game 2: OSU 6, Pacific 2
Three runs between the fourth and fifth innings by the Beavers were the needed separation from Pacific for the series win at 6-2.
After falling behind on a two-run homer by the Tigers in the third, Oregon State responded quickly with two scores off hits from Madison Weir and Paige Bambarger to make it 3-2. Thompson capped the inning's scoring with a single that brought home Bambarger to put the lead at a pair.
Jaeya Butler and Campbell slugged solo homers to push the final separation to four runs in the fifth and seventh innings, respectively.
Ellie Garcia (10-9) was credited with the win after striking out 10 Tigers in the game's entire 7.0 frames. The Californian allowed the two Pacific runs on just three hits and four walks. Garcia quelled any hope for a Pacific comeback late when she forced consecutive three-up, three-down innings.
Oregon State will wrap the series against the Tigers tomorrow with a matchup from Pacific's Bill Simoni Field. Action is set for noon and can be seen on ESPN+.
