Beavers Drop Two on Saturday
February 28, 2026 | Softball
FULLERTON, Calif. – Oregon State softball dropped a pair of games on Saturday, falling to No. 4 Florida and the California Bears in day two of competition at the Judi Garman Classic.
Game one: No. 4 Florida 21, Oregon State 1 (final/5)
Oregon State faced the fourth-ranked Gators to open day two in Fullerton and the Gator bats got hot early, scoring runs in every frame on the way to a five-inning contest. Rylei Trujillo drove in the Beavers' lone run of the game on a 2-1 count in the fourth, scoring Morgan Howey from second who had doubled two batters earlier.
Trujillo and Howey both finished 1-2 and Alliyah Rodriguez also got on with a hit in the game; Camryn Gordon walked in the second inning.
Bailey Murray and Amelia Streuber each struck out one Gator hitter as Kimberlee Aleman and Kynlee Griffith also pitched.
Game two: California 6, Oregon State 3
Coming off her first home run of the season in last night's game against Cal State Fullerton, Lici Campbell had another strong performance in the Beavers' second game of the day, finishing 3-4 with a double and one run scored. Jaeya Butler hit her 13th home run of the season, her third long ball in the team's last four games, while Jada Lewis finished 2-3 with a walk and stolen base.
Haydn Milley struck out four across three innings pitched, allowing five hits and four earned runs, while Murray struck out five in four innings of work.
Cal took a lead in the top of inning number two but OSU quickly responded off the bat of Tessa Hogue, who singled in the bottom half of the inning to level the game at one. The Golden Bears found runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings before Butler's blast in the seventh inning cut into the lead – though it wasn't enough as Cal held on for the 6-3 win.
Beaver softball rounds out the five-game weekend with a Sunday matchup against No. 8 UCLA, returning home to host the Oregon Ducks on March 4. Tickets are available and can be purchased by calling the Beaver Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or visiting https://beav.es/SoftballTickets.
