CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Despite out-hitting UCSB by a 7 to 4 margin, the Oregon State softball team fell to the Gauchos on Friday night by a 3-2 scoreline.

Costly errors – three in total – plagued Oregon State (4-7) as UCSB took advantage with using them for the difference-making runs.

Keeping the momentum from Thursday night's late-inning win, Jada Lewis opened the offense with a triple to left before Morgan Howey drove her in with a single through the left side for the early 1-0 win. The Gauchos responded in their first with a pair via a home run as they utilized offense off a Samantha Gutierrez error.

Facing two outs in the sixth inning, Nicole Donahue launched her first home run as a Beaver to left center to tie the game at 2.

UCSB responded for the game-winning score in their sixth off an error at second.

Three Beavers – Donahue (2-for-3), Howey (2-for-3) and Lewis (2-for-4) – tied for the team-high in hits with a pair each. A homer by Donahue and a triple by Howey drove in both of the Oregon State runs.

Throwing the game's 6.5 frames, Logan Hulon (2-6) was tagged with the loss. The Dripping Springs, Texas, product fanned five but was liable for all three runs on the night.

Oregon State will continue on in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with two tomorrow. The Beavers will meet Long Beach (noon) followed by Rutgers (approximately 2:30 p.m.) and both can be seen exclusively on FloSoftball.
