Beavers Drop Weekend Finale
February 09, 2025 | Softball
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Oregon State softball team could not hold off Cal Poly's pair of comebacks on Sunday afternoon as the Mustangs took the game by a 7-6 margin.
Looking to take control early, the Beavers (3-2) used a five-run second inning, with three off Lici Campbell's three-run homer. Cal Poly responded to the outburst by chipping away with a run in the ensuing inning before evening it up in the fourth by plating four.
With two outs in the seventh, Madison Weir slapped a single to left field, driving in Campbell for the 6-5 lead. The Mustangs responded one final time in the next half-inning with a pair to seal the win.
Logan Hulon (2-2) was charged with the loss after being held liable for the final Mustang runs. The graduate student struck out five, allowed a hit and walked two. Getting the start, Ellie Garcia gave up five runs (one earned) on four hits and issued a pair of walks.
Oregon State will continue next week at the Wilson Tournament in Long Beach, Calif., when they'll meet Kansas in neutral action. First pitch against the Jayhawks is slated for 10 a.m. this upcoming Thursday, February 13.
