April 16, 2025 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Beavers' upset bid of fifth-ranked Oregon fell short in the seventh inning on Wednesday night.
Down by two with runners on the corners, Oregon State (17-17) saw the end of the game with a 5-3 scoreline.
The Beavers jumped out to a 3-1 lead after four innings behind RBI from Jaeya Butler, Lici Campbell and Morgan Howey. Jada Lewis extended her hitting streak in the second inning to six games – a season-best - with a double to left field. Ella Dardis – with her first career triple in the fourth – alongside Lewis, paced the Beaver offense with two hits apiece.
Using just a pair of hits in the final frame, Oregon plated three runs to ultimately take the game.
Ellie Garcia went all 7.0 and was charged with the loss. She allowed all five runs – four earned – on five hits and four walks but struck out a pair.
Oregon State will return to conference play this weekend with a series at San Diego. First pitch of a doubleheader is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, April 18th and can be seen on ESPN+.
