EARLY RUNS:
Oregon State consistently scored early at the Jane Sanders Classic this past weekend. In fact, of the Beavers' 24 runs scored, 11 came from the first two innings of play and the team scored in the first inning in three different games.
FINISHED QUICKLY:
Though the team didn't score early in a victory over Sacramento State, the Beavers laid it on quickly against the Hornets on Sunday. Scoring its first run in the bottom of the fifth, Oregon State finished the inning with four and added four more in the sixth to take an 8-0 win.
SMALL BALL:
The long ball has driven OSU's offense for long stretches of the season, but it was small ball that fueled the Beaver victory. In fact, only two of the team's eight runs came on an extra-base hit, the rest on singles or Sacramento State errors. The team's opening run, driven in by Camrynn Gordon, came after a perfectly placed Paige Bambarger bunt, and Jada Lewis drove in another run with a hit she slapped right in front of the catcher.
RUNNERS IN POSITION:
After hitting 14 home runs in her first 20 games, Butler has continued to push runs across the plate. Through 27 matchups this season, the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., native leads the entire conference with 40 hits and 36 RBI, also leading the team in average (.426), OPS (1.440), at-bats (94), runs scored (27), doubles (10), total bases (94) and slugging percentage (1.000).
LEADING OFF... WITH SPEED:
Jada Lewis has been a pivotal part of the Beavers' lineup in 2026, primarily hitting out of the leadoff spot. Playing in 23 games this season, Lewis is hitting .362, and when going to the plate as the first batter of an inning, has reached base in 20 of 41 total opportunities, a rate of .488. Her speed has also been a big part of her game and is up to 10 stolen bases this season after posting 16 all of last season; she currently ranks third in the West Coast Conference for stolen bases.
WHAT A RETURN:
Bambarger returned to the OSU lineup on Sunday against Sacramento State after two weeks out of the lineup and made a huge impact in the Beavers' 8-0 victory, earning the start and hitting 2-3 with an RBI, stolen base and two runs scored. The sophomore from Murrieta, Calif., laid down a bunt right in front of the catcher to advance what would be the team's first run of the game to third base, and promptly scored in the next at-bat. For the season, she's hitting .379 with three extra-base hits and 11 RBI across 12 appearances (nine starts).
HOW(EY) SHE ROLLS:
Morgan Howey's senior season has gotten off to a strong start, hitting .333 with seven doubles, four home runs and 15 RBI while starting all 27 contests. After a 3-4 performance against No. 18 Oregon last Wednesday, Howey hit safely in four out of five games at the Jane Sanders Classic, driving in four runs and posting a perfect fielding percentage on eight total chances, which included a diving catch over a tarp in foul territory in right field against Sacramento State.
YEAR 14:
Head Coach Laura Berg is now in year 14 leading Beaver softball in 2026, the second longest tenured head coach in program history. Only Kirk Walker (1995-2012; 18 seasons) has spent more time at the helm of the program. Of the eight head coaches in program history, Berg ranks second behind Walker for career victories, while her conference winning percentage is the top mark.
BACK THE PAC:
After two seasons as affiliate members of the WCC, the Beavers will return to the Pac-12 following the 2026 season. Though Washington State and Gonzaga don't have softball programs, the Beavs will resume Pac-12 play with Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State, Texas State and Utah State. New members will officially join July 1, 2026.

The Beavers are off to Pocatello, Idaho, for a three-game series at Idaho State next week, returning home to face San Diego March 27-29. Tickets are available and can be purchased by calling the Beaver Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or visiting https://beav.es/SoftballTickets.
