Beavers Drop Close Matchup to Penn State
March 11, 2026 | Softball
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State softball played Penn State on Wednesday, falling 3-1 at Kelly Field and moving to 10-18 on the season with a three-game series against Weber State scheduled for this weekend.
Early offense was once again a big part of Wednesday's matchup. Morgan Howey doubled to left center in the first before the Beavs took a lead in the second thanks to Jada Lewis, who singled to third with the bases loaded to give the team a 1-0 lead; Mya Harrison, who walked to lead off the inning, scored from third.
Lewis finished the game 2-4, adding another single up the middle to put a runner on in the seventh, making it back-to-back multi-hit games for the Vallejo, Calif., native, who had three hits in OSU's 8-0 win over Sacramento State on Sunday. She has now tallied multi-hit performances in three of her last four appearances.
Howey hit 2-3, her eighth multi-hit game of the year, and Harrison was 0-2 with a walk and run scored. Camrynn Gordon was 1-3.
Kimberlee Aleman allowed five hits and three earned runs across 5.0 innings pitched against the Nittany Lions, striking out one. Amelia Streuber and Bailey Murray both threw exactly one scoreless inning, Murray striking out one of the four batters she faced.
After scoring one in the fifth, Penn State took the lead in the sixth after a single and error in back-to-back at-bats. OSU built momentum in the seventh after Lewis singled up the middle to put the tying run at the plate, but wasn't able to score as PSU took the 3-1 result.
The Beavers are at home against Weber State this weekend, playing a doubleheader Friday afternoon and single game Saturday at noon. Tickets are available and can be purchased by calling the Beaver Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or visiting https://beav.es/SoftballTickets.
